pancakes

a different sort of pancake day is going on in the Loy house. in an effort to use most of our food before the move, i have created some incredible mixtures of food. hamburgers on lettuce leaves. tomatoes, cream and pesto passing as spaghetti sauce. coffee measured with a fork. soup of too many veggies. cold leftovers and candy.

its quite different but also sort of nice- this cleaning out and cooking the ends of meals. not quite pancake day. not quite for the same reasons. and yet, a feast before a purge.

hi. it isnt snowing. my flowers are dying. the coffee pot is empty. my errands were unsuccessful. and i have two couches in my living room-one in a box, one in the way. ask how i'm doing and that's my answer.

I'm packaging and folding my history into cardboard.

Its a quiet morning here on Paloma as I sip my coffee before another day gets underway. Today, like every other day this week, involves deciding where to live in harbor-city and what box to pack in orange-town? Yesterday, I planned to pack a lot but I ran out of materials, motivation, and tears.

What is it about this place that makes me cry? What do I think will change so much that putting away my beloved novels brings tears, dripping off my nose and obscuring my view?

Us. Our entire history is in this upstate: Our first date. Our first kiss. Our first argument. Our first apology. Our first home. Our first... everything.

And so, as I pack our history away, there is a mourning.

We have a gracious Father, who transcends time, space, and emotion. He restores our strength and whispers hope to our hearts. Our Father has brought this love into being and He will not abandon this work. He is faithful.

I cling to The Promises as I clean, organize, fold, wrap, tuck, and give away. I cling to something beyond me, beyond us, as I hug Clemson family goodbye and as I release dcf. I cling to The Truth that eternity is in my heart and that there is a great working there.

IT WORKED or "live together, die alone"

For the premiere of final season of LOST, Brandon and I decided to throw a proper party. Attendants were allotted characters and were asked to dress up and to bring food items that corresponded with their given character. Food was eaten. Lost was absorbed. Awards were given. Fun was had.

The food was also a work of creativity. Locke brought "wild boar hunted in the wilderness." Claire says "ummm peanut butter." Jack brought "pills for popping." Juliet's sandwiches were not "missing the toothpicks." Ana Lucia brought "some exotic elements mashed together for sustenance. If you dont like it, too damn bad." Kate brought crackers, "I'm a jail bird," and gummi bears, "I miss Aaron." Well done, friends!

It would be a grave oversight if I did not mention the sad absense of so many dear LOST fans. We missed you all and hoped your LOST viewing was as intense, boggling, thrilling, and frustrating as ours was. Please be sure to visit Brandon's Blog for an informative orientation film.
