People used to say "Godspeed" to their departing friends. And I think we should bring it back. Not because I'm all for the old fashioned ways of doing things but because its so TRUE. I mean, when you say that to your friends, you are speaking truth into their lives! With all the lying and deception out there, someone needs some truth every now and again.
I bet you're wondering why I think this is so "true." Let me tell you a story about a guy named Mike. Mike was a hard-worker all through his college career. He made excellent grades and amazing memories. One day, Mike graduated and had to make a few life decisions. He applied to several grad schools and charity/ missions organizations as he looked out over the days of his future. One day, he walked into a church and heard about a man who was building a hospital in Ghana. Mike pursued. Within the week, Mike had a plane ticket to Africa.
To quote my friend, "Life comes at you just that quick sometimes."
God does speed things at us, when the time is right. So, when you say good-bye to people in your life, wish them "Godspeed" so that they too may experience the joy of seeing God sweep in and radically change their lives.
Godspeed, my friends.
